Special Amber Light Helps Protect Hatchlings and Supports Sea Turtle Conservation Efforts
From May to August a large number of Loggerhead turtles landed to the Florida beach to build nests and incubate their next generation. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), by the end of October of 2019, there were nearly 400,000 turtle nests on the 1,360 kilometers of State's coastline, breeding about 40 million young new lives.
But for every 1,000 hatched turtles, only 1 can be survived. Beside of their natural predator, human activities and artificial lights are the main threats.
Female turtles will not dare to go ashore to lay eggs due to improper lighting placement. Baby turtles may lose their lives when the light guiding them to the wrong direction, waive their opportunities to return to the sea.
Therefore, a group of ecological conservationists approached us - LEIYUEH to design a Turtle-Friendly light using a light source with a particular wavelength (near amber color). Which will not interfere with their nocturnal activities, non-interference the hatched turtles crawling towards the sea. The product have also been certified by the FWC , and has proved it will make a great contribution to the conservation of sea turtles. We are honored to have this opportunity to cooperate with ecologist and contribute to the environment !
